Jean-Paul Langlois – AMONG VULTURES

We hope you can join us on Friday, September 15th at 5PM for the Opening Reception of Jean-Paul Langlois’ solo exhibition AMONG VULTURES.

These paintings are a diary of films Jean-Paul watches and books he has read. Philip K Dick, Cormac McCarthy, spaghetti westerns, Planet of the Apes cartoons, gladiator and samurai movies. He fills his days with this departed culture and finds inspiration in it, appropriates from it. The ideas examined are as relevant as ever; fear, racism, murder, genocide, the de-evolution of society and the destruction of the planet. These themes are struggled with by ape militia and orangutans in the same way as gunslinging assassins and samurai lords. Also, they look cool holding guns and sitting on horses.
